THE LIFEBUOY LAYS THE FOUNDATION
The lifebuoy increases safety in all water-related environments. It is the foundation of lifesaving equipment, developed and tested for a long time and used all over the world. The buoyancy of the lifebuoy is sufficient for 2 people and is carefully manufactured by hand in our factory in Sweden. We at Fristad Plast AB are masters of lifebuoys and have manufactured the Trygg-Hansa Lifebuoy since 1976 under the Rescue Life 247 brand. The lifebuoy lays the foundation for all rescue posts.
RESCUE HOOK - 5 METERS
The rescue hook with the unique bow allows you to safely catch and pull the person in distress, without the risk of injury. The 5 meter long hook creates an extended arm that also floats in the water. Its light weight and buoyancy means that even children can use it. The arch is designed to be able to grip a person’s hip and pull them to safety, without putting themselves in danger. Keep the person above the water, until reinforcements arrive or use it to pull on the bottom. A tool with many uses.
RESCUE LADDER WITH ARCHES
The ladder with its lifesaving arches is a multi-tool for water rescue, both summer and winter. The rescue ladder is approved according to the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulation SPCR 064, AFS 2004:3. The foam filling of the ladder provides good buoyancy and increased longevity in tough outdoor environments. Keep one person above the surface until help arrives, or if there are several of you, place the arches under the armpits of the person in need and pull the person over the edge using the ladder as leverage. The spacers on the bottom of the ladder create a distance to the dock so that the ladder can be climbed. In winter, the ladder can be used as a toboggan and pressure relief on the ice if someone has gone through the ice. Used professionally by the emergency services, among others.

Legal Requirements for the Placement of Lifesaving Equipment in Municipal and Private Marinas
To ensure safety and security at waterfront facilities, both municipalities and private marinas are required to provide and maintain lifesaving equipment. This equipment, including lifeguard posts with lifebuoys, lifebuoys and lifeguard ladders, is regulated by guidelines and recommendations from authorities such as
1. Location and Accessibility
- Lifesaving equipment shall be strategically placed at high accident risk locations, such as jetties, quays, y-booms and floating docks.
- The equipment should be easy to reach and clearly marked for quick use by both emergency responders and passers-by.
2. Visibility and Labeling
- Equipment such as lifebuoys and life-saving ladders should be clearly marked and painted in contrasting colors (e.g. yellow or orange) to ensure maximum visibility in all conditions.
- Lifeguard posts should be provided with clear signs indicating the location of the equipment, together with instructions for use.
3. materials and durability
- Life-saving ladders and other equipment should be made of durable materials that can withstand long-term exposure to water, weather and corrosion. Examples include hot-dip galvanized steel or UV-resistant plastic material.
- The structure should be robust and designed to work effectively even in extreme conditions, such as ice and high water levels.
4. Adaptation for the Environment
- The equipment should be adapted to local conditions, such as the height between the quay or jetty and the water surface.
- Life-saving ladders should be installed so that they are easily accessible from both water and land, with a recommended height of no more than one meter from the water surface.
5. Maintenance and Inspection
- Regular inspections and maintenance of lifesaving equipment are mandatory. This includes checking lifebuoys, hooks and ladders for damage, rust and wear.
- Operators of marine facilities shall document and carry out periodic checks to ensure that equipment is operational and meets applicable standards.
6. Life-saving items as an overall solution
- Lifeboat stations should include a combination of lifebuoys, rescue hooks and rescue ladders to maximize safety. This type of solution is recommended by both the Swedish Boating Association and MSB.
